The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh is offering fully funded Masterโs opportunities for talented young Africans for the 2027 intake, with programmes covering areas such as climate change, environmental sustainability, food security, global health, and digital education. The programme aims to empower young African leaders with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to drive positive and inclusive change in their communities and beyond.

Be a citizen of an African country.
Meet the academic requirements for their chosen Masterโs programme at the University of Edinburgh.
Apply for an eligible Masterโs programme covered by the Scholars Program.
Demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to creating positive change in their communities.
Show a strong commitment to addressing challenges related to sustainability, climate action, education, health, food security, or inclusive development, depending on the programme.
Demonstrate how their education and future work can contribute to social and economic transformation in Africa.
The programme particularly encourages applications from young women, persons with disabilities, and people with refugee or displaced status.

Application Process
Check your eligibility โ Review the scholarship requirements and confirm that you qualify.
Explore eligible programmes โ Choose your preferred eligible on-campus or online Masterโs programme.
Register for a mandatory information session โ Register for and attend one virtual session between 15โ24 September 2026. Attendance is required to proceed.
Wait for your invitation โ Eligible attendees will be notified from 13 October 2026 and invited to apply through SurveyMonkey Apply.
Complete the Applicant Declaration Form โ Submit it by 19 October 2026 at 5:00 PM UK time. Early submission is recommended because the form may close once the application limit is reached.
Complete the Main Scholarship Application โ Successful applicants from Stage 1 will proceed to the main application, which closes on 19 November 2026 at 5:00 PM UK time.
Wait for the outcome โ Applicants will be assessed, with decisions expected from early February 2027. Successful candidates will then proceed with the Universityโs degree application process.
