About this Opportunity

The DAFI Scholarship Programme provides higher education opportunities to talented and financially disadvantaged refugee students in Uganda. The programme is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented in partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and Windle International Uganda. It aims to enable qualified young refugees to access university education, develop their academic and leadership potential, and acquire the skills needed to contribute positively to their communities and society. DAFI scholars are expected to demonstrate strong academic commitment and actively contribute to their communities through leadership, volunteering, mentoring, and other meaningful activities.

Eligibility

Be a registered refugee living in Uganda and registered with both UNHCR and the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).

Be between 18 and 35 years of age as of 6 July 2026.

Have successfully completed secondary education.

Possess the required original academic documents.

Demonstrate proficiency in English, the primary language of instruction for higher education in Uganda.

Demonstrate strong academic potential and the ability to successfully pursue higher education.

Demonstrate that financial constraints prevent them from accessing higher education without scholarship support.

Meet the admission requirements of the relevant higher education institution and programme.

Be willing to participate in DAFI programme activities and contribute positively to the refugee and host communities.

Female applicants and candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply, subject to the specific selection criteria of the programme.
